Edmonton, Alberta– June 8, 2006 - Privasoft Corporation, the global leader in automated freedom of information (FOI) solutions is pleased to announce the first annual awards of the Privasoft Scholarship for Information Access and Protection of Privacy Certificate Program (IAPP) at the University of Alberta. 

Each year, scholarships are awarded to the two students with the highest academic standings completing the IAPP Certificate Program with the Faculty of Extension, Government Studies.

Congratulations to Kathryn Smerechinskiy of Victoria, British Columbia and Judy Boufford of Toronto, Ontario for their superior academic achievements. 

As Manager, Records, Access & Privacy at Tourism British Columbia, Ms. Smerechinskiy must balance responsibilities for protecting the personal information of clients with ensuring freedom of information requests are fulfilled to the satisfaction of requesters.  She explains: “The IAPP Program helped me immensely when my position evolved from a records management focus to one of information access and privacy compliance. It provided me not only with a broad understanding of this field, but with knowledge and tools that I've been able to successfully apply within our organization.”
